US vice president Biden irritated all Chinese people by his speech made on the graduation ceremony of West Point today. He said, “The number of scientists and engineers in China is six to eight times larger than that of America. However, you cannot think of one single innovative project, reform or product that is from China.”
Biden’s words with sarcasm provoked anger as well as introspection among Chinese people. With economic globalization, “made in China” cannot remain an advantage forever. China is experiencing a transition from “made in China” to “created in China” in which innovation is essential.

As the first holographic phone Takee 1 was born in China recently, Biden, who has said that China has no innovation, is proved wrong. Takee 1 holographic phone launched by Takee Company, subject to Estar, adopts three advanced technologies, including eye tracking, holographic display and operation without touching. This is the first mobile terminal to adopt holographic display technology, which attracts great attention.
Takee 1 holographic phone is an innovative hand terminal that adopts digital holographic display technology. It tracks the visual angle of human eyes, and then based on holographic image data model, it calculates the actual holographic images. After that, through a special directional display screen, it projects the stereoscopic images of both eyes onto the retina of human eyes. Thus, the visual effect produced is exactly the same as the real visual perception. In addition, it allows users to operate the phone with out touching it through the “space eye”—four tracking cameras.

Apple is undoubtedly the leading figure of the innovation in mobile phone industry. At the beginning of the year, due to the video of holographic iPhone, people believed that iPhone6 will first adopt holographic display technology. However, persuasive photos and parameters were revealed one after another, proving that iPhone6 will not adopt such technology. Holography is one of the heated topics this year. The launch of Takee 1 proved that China has caught up with and even surpassed foreign countries in terms of display technology applied to terminals.
Liu Meihong, president of Takee, at the launch event of Takee 1
Liu Meihong, president of Takee Company said at the launch event of Takee 1 that he planned to send Biden a Takee 1, thus letting him know that China has Takee just as America having iPhone, and that China does not left behind in innovation. Takee 1 will be put on sale on 8th September. It is said that Liu and other executives flew to America to meet with Google and to arrange the gift for Biden.
Takee is to refute Biden’s words, because Takee 1 represents not only a revolutionary application of technology, but also the broad prospect of holographic industrial chain. In the future, all walks of life including 3D game, online shopping, car navigation, video calls and so on will be involved in the mobile phone holographic APPs. Critic pointed out that Takee 1 would lead a holographic era. Although the application of this technology is at the early stage, it is already quite attractive. The mature holographic industrial chain will be richer and larger than the industrial chain of Apple APP.
The quick development of Chinese enterprises speeds up the process of “created in China”. As the environment of innovation is getting mature, hi-tech companies like Takee will certainly grow in number and become more and more internationalized. Because of the subtle changes in the pattern of Chinese mobile phone market, big enterprises as Apple and Samsung become disoriented. In the future, holographic technology can be a breakthrough of Chinese mobile phone industry and thus break the monopoly of foreign companies.
The pattern of mobile phone industry is facing a change in which innovation is essential. Currently, China is a great power of consuming phones rather than a great power of innovative brands. Whether China will take the opportunity and have a place among the global brands is a topic of concern.
