Nov 19 2014

On 18th November, Estar officially launched its laser TV optical engine together with several independently developed technology and the optical module in Shenzhen.

According to Liu Meihong, chairman of Estar, different from direct launch of the complete TV set, the optical engine launched this time aims at offering laser TV solutions to TV companies, and it will not be directly involved in the manufacture of laser TV.

Laser TV aims at occupying the large screen market

Since its invention, TV has developed from monochrome to multicolor, from analogue to digital, from SD to HD. New generation of digital TVs such as Plasma TV and FPD gradually appear in people’s life. Meanwhile laser TV which display images through projection, has begun to attract people’s attention.

The laser TV launched by Estar this time consists of a laser mainframe and a separate screen. The mainframe is equipped with laser source module and ultra short focal lens. It projects the images onto the screen by laser.

Laser TV technology realizes flexible projection from close distance through ultra short focal lens. With the help of the polarity of laser, the large-sized screen will give audiences great experience. In addition, the color gamut coverage of laser TV reaches 90% of the color gamut of human eyes, which is much higher than that of LED TV which only reaches 62%.

Laser display as an independent intellectual property right

Chinese TV companies are still facing the monopoly of foreign companies in the field of panel display, especially in terms of advanced core materials and components. Laser TV is at the early stage of its development. Thus, the independent intellectual property right of core technology is especially important in the competition and the establishment of the industrial standard.

According to chairman Liu Meihong, Estar has independent intellectual property rights of laser TV optical engine including its laser source module and the ultra short focal lens. The ultra short focal independently developed by Estar can project 100 inch image from only 0.48m off the screen, and 110 inch image from 0.52m off the screen. It produces the best effect of the light source and maintains the homogeneity of the light source.
